Champion Sports Radio Broadcasts

Why do you have to subscribe to NFHS Network to watch the games?

Hello Marcus Marauders Family,

Last year during the fourth round of the baseball playoffs, Champion Sports Radio received a call from Fox Sports informing them that the schools did not have the rights to the video broadcasts, and if we wanted to continue broadcasting, we would have to pay a rights fee to them of $600 per game.

In order to resolve the licensing rights, during the 2014-2015 school year, the NFHS Network signed a long-term deal with the UIL obtaining the 2nd tier rights to video broadcasts of all UIL events. Fox Sports will not charge Champion Sports Radio  a fee to broadcast games as long as the school joins their school broadcast program and airs all regular season and postseason games on their network, NFHS Network. In addition to the ability to broadcasting without paying a per game rights fee, Champion Sports Radio will have the use of Fox Sports production program giving Champion Sports Radio  the ability to put graphics up on the screen (including a scorebug) to make our broadcasts look much more like what fans are used to on major TV networks.

What do subscribers get from the subscription? All games broadcast on the NFHS Network are Pay-per-view.  During live events and for the next 72 hours, these games will be available to paid subscribers.

They normally charge $7.95 for a monthly pass, $119.95 for an annual pass, but schools that are a part of their school broadcast program will have the ability to sell season passes for $20, and those passes will work for all games on the NFHS Network for the entire baseball season.  Fans will get the same high quality broadcast and commentary from Champion Sports Radio (with additional production value from the graphics that will be at their disposal) and the schools/booster clubs will not have to pay the $600 per game rights fees to Fox Sports in exchange for their fans purchasing a subscription to the NFHS Network.

So if you are interested in watching Champion Sports Radio broadcast to watch the Marcus Marauders Varsity Baseball and receive the commentary, you will have to subscribe to one of the subscription plans that are offered after creating your NFHS Network Account and following Marcus High School .  The $20 Seasonal Pass (4 Months / 120 Days) is the most economical and covers District and Post-Season games.

In addition to following us on Twitter and Facebook, you have additional options of using the Game Changer Application on your iOS or Personal Computer.

The Marcus Baseball Booster Club is very sorry for the confusion trying to watch the first home game of the season last night via Champion Sports Network.
